Zdravstvujtye! MU begins cooperation with the Russian State University for Tourism and Service

As part of the current process of establishing a formal partnership between MODUL University Vienna and the Russian State University, MU President Prof. Karl Wöber recently met with Prof. DDr. Yury Stetsenko, Head of the Trade Commission of Russia in Austria, and Dr. Yuri Kopylov, Vice-Rector of the Russian State University for Tourism and Service.

The first joint event to come to fruition was a workshop visit from an MU lecturer and tourism scholar held from November 5th to 7th in Moscow and the Russian city of Lipetsk.

Dr. Helmut Zolles, who teaches in the MBA program, was invited to lead the workshop. He is one of the leading consultants in the Austrian tourism and leisure industry, and formerly CEO of the Austrian National Tourist Office and Vice President of Advertising and Customer Services of Austrian Airlines.

The workshops were organized by the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Russian State University for Tourism and Services, with the objective of providing short-term professional training for the participants of the Federal Programme "Development of Domestic and Inbound Tourism in Russian Federation for 2011-2018".

Dr. Zolles spoke on “Tourism promotion – how to plan a destination marketing concept” to the group of 30-40 attendees comprised of federal and regional tourism administrations' officials, investors, tourism businesses' leaders, and educators.

‘’I should confirm that Dr. Zolles was really an immense success’’, said Dr. Kopylov, who is optimistic about a continued partnership with MU.

Future collaboration with the Russian State University for Tourism and Service could involve further workshops, joint-training modules, research collaboration with particular regards to the European Cities Marketing Project, and student exchange at the master level.
