Winter 1013/14 Student Volunteer Award goes to Marianne Farraj and Thomas Müller

Every semester, the MU Cares program recognizes the student or students who have done the most for their fellow students and the outside community, awarding them with a certificate and €100 to donate to the charity of their choice. This semester, the Student Volunteer Award was shared by two students who have gone beyond the call of duty to contribute to student life at MU.

Marianne Farraj is an MBA student from Lebanon, and a strong presence on the MU Club front. She is not only the leader of the Luxury Club, and the leader and founder of the Charity Club but also a member of the MU choir and MU band.

In her musical functions, she sings both alto and soprano and has performed multiple times with the choir, and she plays the trumpet in the MU Band who had their debut at the student Charity Christmas party.

Her charity club involvement includes volunteering for the ‘Backwettbewerb’ bake-off between MU and the Vienna University of Veterinary Medicine, and co-organizing the Modul University Charity Football Tourney, which raised money for Balance, Leben Ohne Barrieren, a social service organization that offers assisted living and daily structure in the area of employment for people with disabilities.

She shared this semester’s honour with Thomas Müller, a BBA student from China, and founder of the MU Football Club. He has joined Marianne at the Backwettbewerb and Football Tourney, in addition to helping out with the new student Orientation Week and the Modul Career Soirée among other functions.

Dagmar Lund-Durlacher, left, dean of the BBA programs, and Jesse Alexander, right, of the Student Service Centre presented Thomas and Marianne with thier awards.

We congratulate both of them for their outstanding contributions to student life!
