Vienna ranked world's 5th best student city

QS Top Universities, a leading information specialist in the higher education sector, recently confirmed what we already knew: Vienna is a great place to study!

Ranked as the world’s top city for quality of living by Mercer Consulting three years running, it’s also gaining recognition for its student advantages. In the ‘’QS Best Student Cities in the World 2012’’ Vienna achieved the 5th spot internationally. On the European continent, Vienna holds second place after Paris, France, and first place in the German-speaking world.

The ranking is based on ‘’a complex set of measures taken from public information, surveys and data submitted as part of the QS World University Rankings’’ and rates the factors student mix, quality of living, employer activity, and affordability to reach an overall score.

As opposed to small university towns Vienna’s imperial heritage, vibrant cultural life, excellent transit system, and multiculturalism make it an attractive draw for students from all over the world to broaden their personal horizons while studying. The city possesses an exceptional amount of green space; in addition to numerous city parks, greenways, and nature reserves, the vast Vienna Woods reach right to the front entrance of MODUL University.

The affordable cost-of-living also attracts many young people to pursue higher education in Vienna. Increasing tuition fees in other countries are also contributing to heightened interest in studying abroad. A recent study conducted by studentroom.co.uk, the world’s largest student site, indicates that 78% percent of students would consider leaving their home countries for their education.

While many of the universities in Vienna primarily offer programs in German, MU’s English language instruction makes it an ideal target for an international education in a desirable location. Currently, over 60% of our student population comes from outside of Austria for the winning combination of a world-class education in a world-class city.
