Position Announcement: Java, Python and JavaScript Experts

Participate in award-winning international research projects as part of a young, dynamic and interdisciplinary team. The Department of New Media Technology of MODUL University Vienna and the Research Institute for Computational Methods of Vienna University of Economics and Business are seeking outstanding researchers and software developers with a focus on interactive Web applications and/or knowledge extraction (text mining, natural language processing). We offer part-time (e.g. for currently enrolled students), full-time and PhD candidate positions. Essential Qualifications

  • Extensive programming experience
    (preferably in Java, Python or JavaScript)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Desired Qualifications
Expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Text Mining and Natural Language Processing
  • Semantic Search and Content Analysis (Apache Lucene, Solr, Tika)
  • Dynamic Web technologies (Ajax, JavaScript, CSS)
  • System and DBMS Administration (Debian, Ubuntu, PostgreSQL)
  • Human Computer Interaction, Crowdsourcing, Games with a Purpose
  • Application Development for Facebook or Mobile Platforms
  • Visual Analytics and Information Visualization
