MU says 'Auf Wiedersehen' to our spring exchange students
August 11, 2011
An exchange semester ranks up there with the most memorable times in one’s life; taking the opportunity to spend half a year abroad attending university in a different country, meeting a whole new group of study colleagues, and gaining valuable skills in a new setting.
MODUL University Vienna is commited to fostering exchange between our scholarly community and that of partner universities the world over. Being a university with a strong international orientation, we encourage our BBA and MSc students to hone their knowledge and their skills by participating in an Academic Exchange, and every semester as we send students far and wide to study abroad. While our partner schools are benefitting from our bright young talent, we receive theirs with open arms.
As the program continues to grow as expand with the university, this past spring we welcomed students from universities in Florida, Ireland, Australia, Mexico, France, and Cyprus. The 11 new faces from 8 nationalities enhanced MU’s internationalism during their five month study in Vienna.
Enriching the learning environment with their diverse perspectives and participating in MU’s International Day, the exchange students took every opportunity to get involved in campus life, explore Vienna, and embrace local culture. They also took advantage of “country-hopping”, traveling to numerous other countries in Europe during their stay including Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Italy to name a few! Concluding their semester’s studies, we said au revoir, adios, slán leat, and hoo roo to our varied group with an Austrian dinner in the heart of nearby Grinzing, wishing them happy trails over schnitzel and kartoffelsalat.
MU’s campus won’t be void of exchange students for long, however, as the university prepares to welcome 15 incoming students—the largest group to date—in the fall semester. The new students will come from partner universities in England, The Netherlands, Australia, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Spain, Mexico, and France to study alongside full-time MU students.
The university maintains partnerships with twenty universities around the world, which allows for the incoming and outgoing exchange of students between two institutions. 8 MU students will be participating in outgoing exchanges in the fall semester to universities in France, Australia, England, Cyprus, USA, and Mexico. Students pay no additional tuition fees and take comparable courses at the partner university, all of which have been especially selected for their similar programs and quality of student services.
