MU opens doors for MODUL Career Fair and Soirée
April 15, 2011
Modul Career did double-duty on Thursday, April 7th, hosting both a successful career fair and a stylish soirée atop sunny Kahlenberg.
The first annual Career Fair attracted over 30 international exhibitors to present more than 400 attendees with a multitude of career possibilities. MODUL Career succeeded in networking "high potentials" with the foremost national and international companies in the tourism and hotel sector. The participating exhibitors were keen on meeting potential employees who will take on practical and managerial positions in the tourism industry of tomorrow.
Exhibitors came from far and wide, with various international partners such as Seabourn Cruise Line (England), Althoff Collection: Seehotel Überfahrt (Germany), Job Trust Career Agency (Greece) in attendance. Many big name hotels used the opportunity for recruiting, including the Hotel Sacher, Hotel Imperial, Hotel Bristol, Le Meridien, Grand Hotel Wien, The Ring, Intercontinental Wien, Vienna Marriott, The Imperial Riding School, Radisson SAS Palais Hotel, St. Martins Lodge & Spa, Vienna International Hotels, and My Place. Consulting companies PKF, Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group, and Kohl & Partner; restaurant and catering company Do & Co; internet platforms such as Booking.com, DiningCity Vienna, Oeticket.com, and Trip Wolf; the hotel IT provider Micros, and the agency FSTS were among the exhibitors offering valuable career tips to the eager young talent. The feedback from exhibitors was extremely positive, and we look forward to the next fair with such knowledgeable and dynamic people bringing a fresh spark to the tourism and hotel sector.
Later that evening came the chance for alumni, faculty and staff of both MODUL Tourism School and MODUL University to hobnob with tourism and hospitality industry representatives to the relaxing backdrop of jazz music and the setting sun at the second MODUL Career Soirée. Over 350 visitors attended the event, which is poised to be the yearly highlight for networking. Graduates of both schools of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, MODUL University Vienna and MODUL Tourism College, gathered in an exclusive setting to further contacts and careers. The goal is to maintain and make new professional and business contacts in a relaxed atmosphere, and to enjoy a splendid evening with ‘like-minded’ people.
Mrs. Brigitte Jank, president of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, opened the event. Other distinguished guests included, Mag. Heinz Wollinger, Director of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, Reiner Heilmann, Director of Hotel Sacher Wien, Martina Lebensorger, Front Office Manager, Hotel Intercontinental Wien, Mag. (FH) Philipp Patzel, Director Hollmann Beletage, Martina Maly, Managing Director of Michaeler & Partner, Mario Plachutta, owner of Plachutta Restaurants in Vienna, and many more.
''We are proud that both schools are known internationally for their high-quality training. We give to our graduates the tools for a successful future." said Hani El-Sharkawi, Head of MODUL Career. The career platform counts more than six thousand graduates of MODUL Tourism College, many holding leadership positions the world over, as well as the first graduates of MODUL University Vienna in their network.
