MU is the first Austrian university to offer WhatsApp to potential students

MODUL University Vienna has become the first university in Austria to integrate messaging platform WhatsApp into its communication efforts to boost interaction with prospective students for 2017/18.

The service was officially launched on 2nd March to co-inside with MODUL University’s appearance at this year’s BeSt Messe in Vienna. Integration into the university’s communication plan provides potential Bachelor and Master-level students with a personalized pre-application experience, quicker response times to questions, as well as important information updates in the run up to application deadlines.

“Choosing a university can be an exciting but hectic experience,” says Digital Marketing and Communications Manager Will Campbell. “We want to give potential new students the opportunity to ask us questions at their own pace using a service they are already familiar with.''

The new service is available to potential students Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 18:00 CET, with all requests submitted outside of this time frame being handled the following working day.

First of its kind

The decision to launch an official WhatsApp service came following feedback provided by potential students, via current Student Ambassadors and members of the university recruitment team, that those looking to enter higher education in 2017/18 are ready to receive useful information from institutions via messenger platforms.

“The release of this service, the first of its kind for a university in Austria, continues MODUL University’s reputation as an institution which is ready for the 21st century, not only internally or in the classroom but also externally in its approach to speaking with future students,” says Campbell.
