MU cooperates with Vienna House hotel group to offer tailor-made executive seminars
February 11, 2016
MODUL University Vienna offers tailor-made seminars for executives – and the demand is growing. Without committing to an entire degree program, participants will have the opportunity to attend top-notch MBA courses, deepen their skills, network, and obtain a competitive advantage. However, if participants choose to go further with their education, it is possible to transfer the ECTS credits earned to an MBA program following successful completion of the seminar.
Co-operation with Austria’s largest hotel group
A recent cooperation agreement with Austria’s largest hotel group Vienna House shows that this concept is attractive for numerous tourism partners. MU will offer courses for candidates selected from Vienna House’s own international high-potential development program titled ‘’Vienna House Leaders Programs Victor’’ to an extent of 3 ECTS. The participation in selected courses taught in English, consists of the Pre-Module Phase (2-3 weeks preparatory phase via e-learning), Core-Module Phase (2 days presence at MU campus) and the Post-Module Phase (2-3 weeks follow-up evaluation via e-learning).
Individual seminars for executives becoming highly popular
Each ECTS credit earned within the framework of these courses can be transferred to an MBA program at MODUL University Vienna, allowing at the same time for a reduction of cost per ECTS transferred. Christian Hoffmann, MU Managing Director, stressed the significance of the offer and collaboration itself: ‘’Professional seminars have been on an uptrend now for many years. Thanks to the international orientation and flexible MBA course organization at MODUL University Vienna, we are able to create tailor-made executive training programs together with our corporate partners. Also, the high standards of the Victor executive program will fit well with our professional seminar program, as the courses will be offered to our international MBA students too. Like many of our MBA students, the hotel employees who participate also have years of management experience and very good command of English, which means that after successfully participating in a course, they will be able to gain admittance to one of the MBA programs.
Additional benefits for the domestic (tourism) economy
Martin Ykema, Vienna House Chief Operating Officer, is also committed to the idea: ‘’Young executives should get the best possible preparation in anticipation of their new management tasks. Expertise is certainly an important factor, but it is also essential to be able to critically and scientifically tackle a challenge, and to develop further. Therefore, a logical extension is to involve Victor participants in this professional seminar. Furthermore, we intend to offer our executives more ‘’Educational Studies’’, and since we have already worked in close co-operation with MODUL University Vienna in areas related to the education of young professionals, internship trainings, and FH cooperation for many years, we think we have found the right partner for that".
Employees would gain a correspondingly higher level of education, and that would make them more attractive to international employer, as the Vienna House hotel group already is. "We are preventing migration of employees to other industries, broadening both personal and professional horizons, and structuring in order to meet global aspirations. The hotel industry is an exciting and versatile work environment, and if we manage to make it more intellectually and scientifically interesting, it will certainly have a positive impact on the tourism industry”, adds Kathrin Gollubits, Head of Human Resources at Vienna House.
