Mentoring cooperation with Michaeler & Partner

Renowned tourism consulting agency ‘‘Michaeler & Partner’’ is taking charge of this year’s mentoring program at MU.
MODUL University’s mentoring course is an elective offered to 5th/6th semester BBA of Tourism and Hospitality Management students. Within the program, senior representatives of companies in the Austrian and international hospitality sectors take over patronage of small groups of selected students and offer them ‘’a taste of real life’’ as tourism professionals. It is an excellent opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with business management firsthand, to explore genuine challenges and discuss possible solutions, thereby applying and enhancing their knowledge and skills and contributing inspiring ideas to the company. On the other hand it benefits the mentors too, as it allows participating businesses to present themselves as prospective employers, and to guide and advise the next generation of tourism professionals in their career plans.
This semester, Associates of M&P are partaking in the program, working hand-in-hand with the students on various sustainability topics. As sustainability issues are becoming an ever more important focus for M&P to offer to their clients, the mentorship is a perfect fit with MODUL University's educational principles. The participants recently conducted a survey at Hotel Palace Vienna, posing a variety of questions on this theme. Results obtained indicate that environmental issues are an important consideration for 20 out of 59 respondents, and 51% of those questioned would pay more for a hotel stay, if it excelled in the field of sustainability.
These significant numbers and facts underline the current efforts of M&P to establish themselves as the market leader with a strong focus on sustainability, and are encouraging for the future career prospects of MU students. Michaeler & Partner enjoy a close relationship both with MU and MODUL Career, and will be exhibiting at the MODUL Career fair on April 7th, 2011.
