Lassoing knowledge at the OACAC Summer Conference

MODUL University Vienna is renowned for its high standard of education, which extends from first contact to the classroom and beyond.

In order to keep on top of the latest trends and developments in university recruitment and admission, high school counseling, and international higher education, MU staff attend a variety of relevant conferences throughout the year. One of the largest gatherings of education representatives is the annual conference of the Overseas Association for College Admission Counseling (OACAC), which held its 18th assembly at the University of Calgary, Canada from July 14-16, 2011.

Our men from the ‘greenhouse’ (MU’s sunny administration hallway with a great view of Vienna) Alexander Bari (Business Development & International Affairs) and Andreas Schweighofer (Assistant Managing Director) joined over 800 delegates to participate in numerous workshops and sessions focusing on different regions and topics of the educational landscape. They had the chance to present MU and its philosophy to the international group of participants as well as attending their presentations to ensure a fruitful knowledge exchange. In this informative setting, twin fairs were held with both university and high school counselors and representatives sharing tips and experiences.

Luckily for our pair of Austrians, the conference coincided with the ''Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth", the Calgary Stampede, so they had the chance to don cowboy hats and saddle up to some Western Canadian hospitality at the world’s largest rodeo. Amidst this rootin’-tootin’ festival backdrop, the conference was an excellent platform to foster old contacts, to get in touch with new colleagues and to be present in the international university and high school community.
