Happy Trails to our departing Modulians!

As we gear up for the new semester and welcome new staff, faculty, and students to the fold, we also have said goodbye to some familiar faces in the past year.

Clemens Költringer, researcher and lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality, was with MODUL University Vienna since inception in 2007. He finished his Phd in the spring and took up position at MU sponsor the Vienna Tourism Board as Marketing Analyst in Strategic Destination Development.

Karin Glaser began her MU career when the university doors first opened, and moved from assistant to the President to researcher in lecturer in the Department of Public Governance. She completed her PhD in May, and has now joined the Department for Quantitative Studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiener Neustadt, where she will undoubtedly be as popular with her new students as at MU!

Another of MU’s original faculty members, Ulrike Bauernfeind, Assistant Professor at the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, will be swapping academia for the industry taking on the position of Business Statistician with Statistics Austria.

Jode Hamilton, MBA program manager, will be heading back to her native USA with a plethora of managerial experience gained here on Kahlenberg. She'll be saying 'Auf Wiedersehen!' to Austria and 'What's up!' to northern California and taking some time off to visit family and friends.

[img_assist|nid=4490|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=74|height=100]Not all our goodbyes are long-term, however, as two of our ranks are taking maternity leave to build future generations (and perhaps future Modulians!). Associate Professor Astrid Dickinger (left) and Assistant Professor/Senior Lecturer Ursula Loisch (right), both of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality, will soon be welcoming new bundles of joy to the world. Ursula has already taken leave in preparation, and Astrid will continue teaching until early 2013.

Florian Ruttner, Assistant to the Deans, will also be taking leave for a different purpose. He will be on a six-month ‘Bildungskarenz’ as we say in Austria, to work on his Phd in the delightful city of Prague, Czech Republic.

We wish all our colleagues and friends the best of luck in their future endeavors!
