Elin Stenberg, New BBA Program Manager
July 25, 2013
Adding to the Scandanavian presence in the academic office, MODUL University Vienna would like to welcome Elin Stenberg as the new Program Manager of the BBA study programs. She hails originally from northern Sweden, where she completed her five- year teaching degree (Master of Education) at Umeå University with a focus on Swedish and German for upper secondary/high school level education.
During her studies she was very involved with the international students at Umeå, and after completing her degree she obtained a position as the International Student Coordinator at the International Office where she was the first point of contact for all international students attending the university. She also had the main responsibility for the International Buddy Program and all social events for international students. It was in this role that Elin realised she wanted to pursue her career working at a university and in an international setting.
Deciding to leave Sweden, Elin followed her passion for travelling and experiencing new cultures and moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2011. Upon arrival Down Under she took on positions at RMIT University and the Australian Catholic University where she was responsible for organising school placements for education students, and later obtained a permanent position at MU partner uni Victoria University as a Study Abroad Advisor with a focus on outbound student exchange (sending Australian students on overseas exchanges).
Even though she loved many things about Australia, it was a temporary plan and she found it to be rather far from home. She also missed European culture, the central location, and the German language, so she decided to pack up and head back to the northern hemisphere with her sights set on Vienna. Elin had heard good things about MU from the Victoria University students who had been here on exchange, and when the vacancy for Undergraduate Program Manager caught her eye, it seemed like a perfect fit considering her previous experiences and career goals to continue working in higher education with an emphasis on internationality.
Kismet! Now Elin is the newest member of our team. She is in charge of the BBA programs and acts as the link between the students and the faculty in terms of the BBA curriculum, grades, study and exam regulations, exam and course registration etc.
In her free time, she’s exploring Vienna in all its sights, restaurants and things to do, and the surroundings. This also gives her the opportunity to get back into speaking German (and learn the Austrian variations, of course). Having spent most of her life in pretty "isolated" places, she is also planning on doing some weekend trips to other places in Austria and the neighbouring countries. Skiing and cycling are her outdoor sports of choice – she’s picked the right place!
