Darrah Lustig, MA, joins the Admissions team

Darrah brings with her an international, cross-cultural, and multilingual perspective that fits right in at MU.

She will be responsible primarily for undergraduate admissions, by way of processing applications and interviewing the best applicants on their path to becoming MODUL University students.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, USA, to an Austrian father and American mother, she is a native speaker of both English and German. She has extensive experience studying and working in both languages as a teacher, proofreader, editor and translator, as well as Spanish-English translation. Before coming to MU she was an Editorial Assistant for Book Reviews at The German Quarterly, the United States’ premier scholarly publication in the field of German Studies.

Darrah’s educational background also reflects her interest in language and culture - she holds a Master of Arts from Dartmouth College in Comparative Literature and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont with a Dual Major in German and European Studies and Minor in Spanish Language and Literature.

Her education has afforded her many unique and wonderful opportunities to travel, study, and work abroad – in addition to three years spent in Austria teaching English in the southern province of Carinthia, she’s spent time in Argentina, Egypt, the Netherlands and Canada.

Although she’s been to her father’s home town of Vienna many times, this is her first experience living in the city, and she’s currently spending her free time getting acquainted with Vienna’s street, alleys, and seeking out its hidden gems.

Darrah is also cooking aficionado with a particular penchant for Indian food, as well as a classically-trained guitarist. She knows the way of finger-picked Flamenco - but is just as happy to plug in her electric guitar and rock out.

MU wishes her success in her new position!
