Cooking up a storm for charity
October 29, 2012
On October 24th, eager student volunteers took over the MU kitchen to raise money for charity. The chefs du jour whipped up a delicious organic, fair-trade, sustainable menu, with all proceeds going to Animal Cares Austria, a charity that helps save animals from bad situations and adopts them to loving homes.
The fruits of a morning of slicing, dicing, stirring, and spicing were on offer for cafeteria visitors who had the choice of Chili con Carne or vegetarian spaghetti chock-full of fresh veggies, with either a green salad or Greek salad to accompany the hot dish. Staff and faculty members also did their part, adding homemade baked goods to the offering. At the suggested price of €4 per dish, €380 was raised for animal welfare.
The initiative was the third charity cooking event organized through MU Cares community service program, and the first to be held on campus. Special thanks to MU’s Sustainability Committee, Event Manager Franziska Schmidt, and Head Chef Christoph Fischer for making it possible!
