Coming home to the 3rd annual Alumni Reunion

Around 55 graduates returned to MODUL University for the 3rd annual MU Alumni Reunion on a sunny September 3rd. Alumni from all cohorts as well as staff and faculty members attended the MODUL Career-organized event for excellent food and drinks from CateringKultur in convivial atmosphere with music provided by DJ Steve Nick. Keeping in step with the internationality of MODUL University, alumni from Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Germany, UK, Italy, Ukraine, Columbia, Mexico, and Cyprus made the journey back.

Our graduates were happy to meet their former colleagues again to reminisce about their student days and catch up on developments since graduation. The event is intended for alumni to both revisit the university and reconnect with familiar faces, and to network and facilitate potential new business partnerships.

The reunion was also a great opportunity for a current student and recent graduate to promote their start ups. Rochel Boychev-Sarikov, BBA ’15, has been in charge of Rori’s Finest Sweets, a specialty bakery in Vienna’s 5th district, since 2011 and has recently opened the doors of a second boutique shop in the heart of Vienna. Displaying his cake-making talents, his mouthwatering raspberry mousse creation sated everyone’s sweet tooth at the reunion.

Andrei Gabriel Badila opened up a luxury chocolate shop in the prestigious Marriott Hotel as a franchise of the Patibon chocolaterie, and provided a small gift to the guests as a thank you for joining us at this year’s reunion. For the way home!

A few impressions from our guests:

Darrah Lustig, Student Service Center, “As a staff member, it is personally very gratifying to see our former students return to MU with so much joy and enthusiasm. It is also humbling to see our graduates transform their academic areas of interest into successful business ventures. The energy in the room is tangible and highly contagious – I left the room feeling invigorated and a part of a vital community of students and friends. After all, what is not to enjoy about reconnecting with intelligent, motivated people to learn about their successes and their dreams over delicious food and drink high above the beautiful city of Vienna?”

Sebastian Ferrari, class of 2014, currently working as Front Office Agent in the Intercontinental Hotel Vienna: "The MU Alumni Reunion is a fabulous event, which brings us former students back together once a year! I'm always very enthusiastic about attending this get-together: not only does it give us the opportunity to reminisce about the good old times at university, but it also enables us to share our professional experiences with one another. Above all, this event's warm and welcoming atmosphere truly provides us with the sense of belonging to a larger family, which I would like to make proud by succeeding in life. This way, we'll write history together."

Bernhard Gamlich, class of 2011, currently working at PKF hotelexperts GmbH as Controller & Finance Coordinator: “The reunion is a great opportunity to reconnect with former colleagues as well as to network in a beautiful atmosphere. It was fascinating to find out about what other alumni have done after their studies and if everything has developed as they expected it to be in their working life. The reunion is a great event that differentiates MU from other universities in Vienna.”
