Bill Clinton at first annual CGDC meeting in Vienna

On May 21st, the Center for Global Dialogue and Cooperation (CGDC) held its first annual meeting in Vienna.

Representatives of MU were in distinguished company, participating in the conference alongside the founders of CGDC, Mr. Petar Stoyanov, former President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Werner Fasslabend, former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Austria, and Mr. Walter Schwimmer, former Secretary General of the Council of Europe. Among the participants and speakers were Mr. Norbert Darabos, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Austria, Bakir Izetbegovic, member of the tripartite presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and numerous ministers from other Balkan and CEE countries. 

Dr. Harvey Goldstein, Professor of Public Governance and Management at MU, led the first panel of the day on ‘Good Governance as a Prerequisite for Sustainable Economic Development.’ None other than former US President Bill Clinton, and General Wesley Clark, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO, served as keynote-speaker and leader of the second panel respectively.

To facilitate this exchange, a partnership with MODUL University has been launched. In order to cope with the challenges of an interdependent world and to enhance good governance and sustainable economic development in this part of the world, the CGDC is providing thirteen scholarships annually for students from the Western Balkans to attend MODUL University’s MBA in Public Governance and Management program.
