Astrid Dickinger receives Venia Docendi

Astrid Dickinger received a Venia Docendi (Habilitation) in Business Administration from WU Vienna in July 2010. The title of the Habilitation dissertation is “Delivering Service through Technology”, which presents 20 of her most relevant research papers.

The focal theme of Astrid Dickinger’s work is how customers interact with technology. Her projects try to gain an understanding of questions such as: Why do people use innovations like online shopping or mobile services? How do travelers search for information, and where do managers need to place information on the Internet to be actually heard? More recently Astrid Dickinger has been investigating the persuasive power of user generated content on blogs and review pages, and researching how positive and negative e-word-of-mouth influences buying decisions and destination image.

Before joining MODUL University Vienna, Astrid Dickinger was Assistant Professor at the Institute for Tourism and Leisure Studies of WU Vienna where she completed her PhD, and a visiting scholar at the University of Western Australia, Perth and Temple University, Philadelphia.
