Around the world at Vienna's largest tourism fair
February 15, 2016
As part of their studies, MU students participate in a variety of field trips to get first-hand experience and interact with industry representatives. MODUL Career, the university’s career centre, organized a trip to this year’a annual Ferienmesse (Tourism Fair) in Vienna, to meet industry partners, explore the offers available and see how an event of this size is functioning.
Bachelor students Inna Pavliv and Iryna Andrukh were both first time visitors to the fair:
''It was my first time at the Ferienmesse and needless to say that it was definitely not the last one! Just recently I had an enrichment course about Meeting Industry at MU during which we visited the venue that was already in the preparation stage for the fair. My personal interest to visit this event was based on the simple curiosity, how they managed to do everything and how will it all look like at the end of the day. No doubt, it is impressive to see how such a large scale event is happening. It seems like it manages by itself as a living body, however, there are hundreds of people who stand behind it and make it happen so visitors could just enjoy their time at the fair: dream or maybe already plan their next vacation, experience the best of the local Austrian cuisine and of course visit the Autoshow exhibition.” (Iryna Andrukh).
“It was my first time visiting the Ferienmesse. I have to admit I was impressed by some of the countries trying to sell their brand, and it was so much to see and there was so much to talk about with representatives. For instance, there was a company that organizes trips to Antarctica, and it was pretty astonishing to look at the programs they offer and the things to see out there. The fair hosted so many companies and countries trying to present themselves, and it was a perfect environment not only to get to know something new, but also to consider your next vacation and book it right at the fair, or simply sign up for an interesting offer for purchasing an airline ticket, booking a trip or a cruise. Then I ended up getting myself the typical Hungarian sweet bread roll that the girls at the booth were making right in front of me, and it was so delicious! I am very thankful to Modul Career for giving me an opportunity to visit the Ferienmesse” (Inna Pavliv).
