Alumni Spotlight – Matteo Attems, BBA ‘10

Matteo Attems-Gilleis was a member of MU's first cohort in 2007, and has since taken his skills to the streets, opening up his own event promotion agency.

In his university days he was an integral figure in student life, setting up many parties and events, and found his true calling in the event management profession. The business has been so successful he was able to hire another former Modulian, Phillip Pistauer.

Through MU, he did an internship at Radio Superfly GmbH – 98.3 (Sunshine Enterprises), and after completion he stayed in contact supporting them with further promotions, such as building up a lounge in the middle of Mariahilferstraße, the main shopping thoroughfare in Vienna. 

Matteo had this to say about his new company: 

''The company Attems and Friends was conceptualized in 2011 by owners Matteo Attems-Gilleis and Martin Siuda. Matteo Attems-Gilleis, a former student of Modul University has extensive experience working for other well known Event and Advertising companies such as Sunshine Enterprises and Ideal group. Martin Siuda, former Creative Director of 98.3 Superfly and owner of Smart Works! studied at the WU, finishing with a bachelor of marketing and sales management.

The company currently operates with five employees and is expanding as the work load increases. The company is an event and advertising organization which has done mostly evening clubbing events, opened a cocktail bar and does marketing and promotion for other enterprises. Attems and Friends has already hosted the event “Frühstück Bei Mir?”in Palais Kinsky twice and has moved to one of Vienna’s most famous clubs; Babenberger Passage. The company also organizes the weekly event “WHATS:THE:TIME”in Vienna’s newest club; Level 7 (LVL7), and conducts the club’s marketing and promotion.

Le Shot bar had its grand opening on the 18th of February 2012, bringing an exciting, modern concept to Vienna. Le Shot bar offers an extensive variety of different cocktail shots and cocktail shakers along with the standard drinks one can order at a bar. There is space for 60 people to stand and sit comfortably and will offer table and bar service. The interior was refitted with upcycling design which is environmentally friendly with a modern twist. An interactive vibe is created inside the bar by offering comedic entertainment and allowing the guests to draw their own creative input on the chalkboard walls. Each month there is a featured artist who is given the top part of our walls to display their art. There will also be a monthly featured music selection. We ask musicians to give us the music they feel would work in the bar and we play it. This month our featured art is by Lostrations and our music selection was done by DJ Ben Foster.

Attems and Friends has earned its reputation by the incredible amount of work and effort put towards each and every event. There are no other events and marketing company which put forth such an effort and promote on such a personalized level in Vienna. The idea is to attract the right crowd through networking and almost hand picking our customer base for the events we run. With an enormous amount of dedication and creative marketing ideas the company has drawn the attention of long standing events companies in Vienna who are starting to feel the competition. The whole team is engaged to keep up motivation and to maintain and constantly improve the level at which we currently work.''
