Alumni Spotlight - Fábio Vilela, BBA 2010

One of Modul University's first graduating class, Brazilian Fábio Vilela has made quite the name for himself in the past three years. He shared the story of his success:

''By choosing to attend Modul University for my Bachelor program I was able to immerse myself in a wide mix of academic, social and cultural opportunities that I knew someday, would lead me to a great successful career. I have always had a passion for luxury tourism products, specially in the airline field.

Right after my graduation I came back to Brazil and I got myself thinking that I should begin a project that would keep me focused in this area. A lot of brainstorming happened before I took my final decision to start my own website - Passageiro de Primeira - , where I could write my own reviews and trip reports about First and Business Class seats, Airlines, Hotel's Suites and Frequent Flyer Programs.

The website slowly began achieving more and more readers and the word of mouth was my biggest advertisement ally. In less than 2 years, fortunately, with my competent hard work, the website became the biggest one in this category in Brazil with more than 2 million page visitors.

Nowadays I'm a luxury travel consultant, and I have the job I dreamed of: Travelling the whole world by invitation, on behalf of airlines and hotels, to try their new products and services, and after testing, recommend them to my followers.

My website is often sponsored by international hotel chains and renowned foreign airlines. Along with the website I offer an award booking service (airline tickets with points and miles) to companies and individuals that wish to travel for free. I developed my own successful method of searching availability, becoming the only website to offer this kind of service in my country.

Last year my reputation got worldwide known when I was invited for an interview in the United States with Daraius Dubash, the writer of Million Mile Secrets. It was a huge personal recognition.

I recently made a trip to an Airbus factory in Germany. It was an unique experience, to be among the few people in the world to get inside the production line of the new A350XWB. We got through the whole assembly line, from the fuselage to cabin interior, process by process.

In addition I attended the Aircraft Interior Expo in Hamburg, which is the biggest fair in the world in this field. I got the chance to know big airlines' suppliers as Sogerma, EADS, B/E Aerospace and to get insights about their new First and Business Class seats that will become available to airlines later on this year.

Founding my own company has given me the possibility to do what I know and do best, and for me, that is a huge career highlight.

MU’s unique style gave me all the tools for business as well as touching on every subject so I could have an overall perceptive how an entrepreneur should be, and I'm so proud of my achievements.

Modul is not only a university where you get in and come out with a degree and a lot of student life memories, but also it is a business coach that guides you on a right way, transmitting skills and know-how’s of how to work and succeed in the business world.

At Modul it is not only contacts that you make, it is a friendship that you build for a lifetime. And if students need to broaden their horizons in a multicultural state, then Modul University is the right choice!''
